If you consider yourself a hop-head, hop geek or a hop addict, then you are most likely no stranger to Stone’s Enjoy by series. Their ‘Enjoy by 2/14/14 is regarded as one of the best IPAs on the planet, comparable to Heady Topper or Pliny the Elder, which, if you know beer, is saying quite a bit.
The big news of the weekend was the announcement of ‘Enjoy by 4/20/14’, which, by pure coincidence (I’m sure…) is touted as being ‘Devastatingly Dank’, so if you are a hop-head….and enjoy other plants in the hop family…then you are sure to enjoy this brew.
If you visit the Stone website for this series of brews, you can see the current status of the beer. As of this posting, the beer is still in the brewing stage. I really enjoy the idea of filling customers in on the status of the beer; it helps create buzz for the beer as well as gives beer geeks like ourselves something to look forward to, keep track of, and talk about with friends.
The whole idea of this series is that you quite literally are experiencing the beer at its freshest. They don’t hide the expiration date anywhere inconspicuous on the bottle, rather, they incorporate it into their branding which is unique, fun, and like a Mission Impossible film, a race against the clock. Unlike some beers that get better with age, there is no need for delayed gratification, as this beer is at it’s premium as soon as it is in your hands.
From the reviews and personal experience of ‘Enjoy by 2/14/14’, this beer is not one to be missed. Get out there, and enjoy this beer.
